EPCOT will close at 9 PM instead of 9:30 PM during the 2026 Festival of the Holidays, and both Candlelight Processional and Luminous are moving 15 minutes earlier to match.
I’m historically the person closing out EPCOT during the holidays, hot chocolate in hand, telling my group “just one more kitchen.” (Sounds like I’ll be adjusting my strategy though this year.) The good news is that with a little planning, this change is very manageable.
The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays runs November 27 through December 30, 2026, and the park is scheduled to open at 9 AM with early entry for hotel guests starting at 8:30 AM. The change is on the back end of the day: the park closes at 9 PM, a full half hour earlier than the 9:30 PM. close the festival typically has had. Disney’s calendar currently reflects the earlier close, though it’s worth remembering that Walt Disney World often posts standard hours first and adjusts them later based on attendance and hotel occupancy, so hours could still change on select dates.
The showtimes shift along with it. Candlelight Processional will perform at 4:45 PM, 6:30 PM, and 8 PM. this year, each 15 minutes earlier than last year’s 5 PM, 6:45 PM, and 8:15 PM. performances. Luminous: The Symphony of Us moves up to 9:15 PM from 9:30 PM, which means the fireworks show now begins 15 minutes after the park officially closes. Rides and shops will close at 9 p.m., but guests can stay in the park to watch Luminous.
It helps to understand why that half hour mattered. The Candlelight Processional’s final performance usually wraps up close to 9 PM, and guests and singers need to exit America Gardens Theatre before the fireworks start. The extra 30 minutes at the end of the night gave the theater a comfortable window to empty out. This year’s schedule shortens that cushion, which is why the showtimes had to move earlier as well.
So what does this mean for your evening? If you want a last ride or a final souvenir stop, plan to finish before 9 PM, which leaves about 15 minutes to find a good spot along World Showcase Lagoon before Luminous begins. If you’re building your night around dinner, double-check your reservation time against the new Candlelight Processional schedule, since a dinner that runs long could now overlap with a show. And if you have a Candlelight Processional Dining Package, confirm your performance time rather than relying on what you remember from a previous trip.
There’s a small silver lining, too. Central Florida evenings in late November and December can get chilly, and earlier showtimes mean guests attending the outdoor Candlelight Processional may catch the performance while it’s a little warmer. The festival itself is included with park admission, and the rest of what makes it special, like the holiday kitchens, the Cookie Stroll, and the celebrity narrators reading the Christmas story with a mass choir and orchestra, is still on the schedule.
