Disney Cruise Line will reveal the full story of its newest ship, Disney Believe, in a livestream on Wednesday, October 7, including where the ship will actually sail from.
I’ve been refreshing Disney Believe news like it owes me money. (It does not, but the homeport announcement might cost me a lot of money in the best possible way.) Here’s what’s confirmed so far and what we’re all waiting on.
The livestream will run on the Disney Parks social channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, and Disney says it will share the ship’s homeport, itineraries, new venues, and entertainment. There’s a fun side event that same day, too: guests sailing on the Disney Wish will get a special one-night-only performance inspired by Disney Believe featuring Susan Egan.
For a quick refresher on the ship itself, Disney Believe is the fourth Wish-class ship, joining Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny, and it’s expected to set sail on its maiden voyage in late 2027. Disney introduced the ship in March and describes it as inspired by promise, possibility, and what lies beyond the horizon.
A few details are already out. At D23, Disney revealed that Moana and her friends will greet guests in the Grand Hall, with a bronze statue of Moana, Pua, and Heihei at the center. Tinker Bell will be on the bow, and Woody and Buzz will be on the back of the ship. Stories from Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid have been confirmed so far, which suggests a lineup that leans into some of Disney’s most beloved recent and classic stories.
What we don’t know yet is almost everything guests actually plan a cruise around. Disney hasn’t named the restaurants, lounges, kids clubs, or Broadway-style shows, and booking dates haven’t been announced either. The homeport is the one I’ll be watching most closely. Where the ship sails from will decide who can drive to it and who needs to fly, and for a lot of families that answer matters more than any menu or show.
Disney Believe is also part of a much bigger story. The fleet has grown from four ships in 2022 to eight this year, and Disney Cruise Line is planning four additional ships by 2031, which would bring the fleet to 13. One of those future ships is set to homeport in Japan starting in 2029, and the other three will be part of a new class. Between all of that, it’s a pretty exciting time to be a Disney cruise fan.
