One of Disneyland Resort’s most heartfelt seasonal celebrations is making its return later this year.

Disney has announced that Plaza de la Familia will once again return to Disney California Adventure Park this fall, bringing the spirit of Día de los Muertos and the beloved story of Pixar’s Coco back to the Disneyland Resort. The annual celebration honors the everlasting bonds of family through music, storytelling, food, art, and cultural traditions.

According to Disney, Plaza de la Familia will return to Disney California Adventure beginning August 21, 2026, and continue through November 2, 2026. The celebration will once again take place alongside Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, giving guests even more seasonal experiences to enjoy during their fall visit.

Inspired by Pixar’s Coco, Plaza de la Familia celebrates the traditions of Día de los Muertos while highlighting the importance of family, remembrance, and cultural heritage.

A Celebration Inspired by Coco

Disney describes Plaza de la Familia as an annual celebration of the everlasting bonds of family and the spirit of Día de los Muertos. The experience draws inspiration from the Academy Award-winning Pixar film Coco and has become a fall tradition for many Disneyland Resort guests.

Guests can expect the return of colorful décor, live entertainment, themed food and beverage offerings, and experiences that honor Mexican culture and traditions associated with Día de los Muertos.

Fall Celebrations Continue Across Disneyland Resort

The return of Plaza de la Familia joins a packed lineup of fall offerings coming to Disneyland Resort this year.

Halloween Time will run from August 21 through October 31, while Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party returns to Disney California Adventure on select nights. Guests will also be able to enjoy seasonal attraction overlays, Halloween-themed entertainment, specialty food and beverage offerings, and limited-time merchandise throughout the resort.

For many guests, Plaza de la Familia offers one of the most meaningful seasonal experiences at Disneyland Resort, blending Disney storytelling with authentic cultural traditions in a celebration that continues to grow in popularity each year.
