One of the most terrifying moments at Disney’s Hollywood Studios now finally has a hopeful update.
Nearly five months after being injured while protecting guests during a runaway prop boulder incident at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Disney Cast Member Robert Herrick has officially returned to work at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Herrick was injured back on December 30, 2025, when the iconic 400-pound boulder prop used during the opening “Raiders of the Lost Ark” sequence reportedly jumped its track and began bouncing toward the audience.
According to reports and videos from the incident, Herrick quickly positioned himself between the prop and guests seated near the front rows of the theater.
The Incident Happened During a Performance
The accident occurred during one of the stunt show’s signature scenes, where the massive rolling boulder recreates the famous escape moment from Raiders of the Lost Ark. According to FOX 35 Orlando, Herrick later explained that the prop struck a wall after launch and suddenly veered off its intended track toward the audience area.
Herrick reportedly suffered injuries, including fractured vertebrae, after stopping the runaway prop before it could reach guests. Videos circulating online at the time showed him bleeding from the head immediately following the incident.
Disney Immediately Modified the Show
Following the incident, Walt Disney World temporarily removed the boulder effect from the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular while Disney’s safety team reviewed what caused the malfunction.
During modified performances after the accident, the opening scene skipped the rolling boulder entirely, replacing the sequence with a simplified stunt moment while investigations continued.
Disney later stated: “Safety is at the heart of what we do.”
Robert Herrick Has Been Part of the Show for Decades
According to interviews following the incident, Herrick had worked at the Indiana Jones stunt show for more than 30 years and immediately recognized the danger when the prop went off course.
In a January interview, Herrick explained that his only thought during the incident was protecting the audience from potential injury, and that explanation only made Disney fans respect him even more.
He’s Officially Back on Stage
Now, nearly five months after the accident, Herrick has officially returned to work at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. BlogMickey shared new photos showing him back at the attraction this week.
The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular has been one of Disney’s longest-running live shows, operating at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 1989.
The show recreates famous stunt sequences from Raiders of the Lost Ark using pyrotechnics, fight choreography, special effects, and practical stunt demonstrations.
