Okay, Star Wars fans can officially relax now.
Disney has confirmed that the wildly popular BDX droids will soon return to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland after temporarily disappearing from Batuu earlier this year. And this is the announcement fans have been WAITING for.
The roaming BDX droids are expected to return to Galaxy’s Edge, beginning May 22.
The small interactive droids Red, Grek, and Oskar quickly became fan favorites after debuting in Batuu thanks to their expressive personalities, free-roaming movements, character interactions, sound effects and animations, and playful guest encounters.
And they may be some of the most charming entertainment additions Disney has introduced in years.
Fans noticed earlier this year that the BDX droids had quietly stopped appearing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, leading to speculation online about whether the roaming characters had been permanently removed or temporarily paused.
Disney never officially explained the disappearance, but many guests suspected the pause may have been tied to maintenance, operational adjustments, or preparations for expanded appearances tied to future Star Wars offerings.
Now, Disney has officially confirmed they ARE coming back.
Disney recently also announced a brand-new BDX Droid popcorn bucket coming to Disney Parks in limited quantities — and fans are already expecting massive demand for the collectible.
The timing of the droids’ return probably isn’t a coincidence!
The return of the BDX droids also comes as Disney continues expanding and updating experiences inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Recent additions and changes include new Mandalorian updates to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, new merchandise collections, seasonal offerings, character appearances, and expanded Star Wars entertainment.
For many Star Wars fans, the roaming BDX droids help make Batuu feel more alive and interactive than almost anywhere else inside Disney Parks.
