Disney just pulled back the curtain on one of its most mysterious resort projects, and it’s shaping up to be something special.

Disney

After years of speculation, delays, and quiet construction, Disney’s newest resort is finally starting to come into focus. And this latest look might be the clearest picture yet of what’s coming to Walt Disney World.

A new look at Disney Lakeshore Lodge is giving fans an in-depth preview of the upcoming resort, set to open in summer 2027 at Walt Disney World.

The resort will be located along the shores of Bay Lake, in the Magic Kingdom area, built on the former site of Disney’s River Country water park—positioned between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort.

Disney

Lakeshore Lodge is being designed as a nature-inspired escape, blending rustic storytelling with Disney’s signature immersive theming.

The resort is expected to draw inspiration from classic Disney films rooted in nature and adventure, including:

  • Bambi
  • Brother Bear
  • The Fox and the Hound
  • Pocahontas

This creative direction suggests a strong focus on outdoor beauty, wildlife themes, and peaceful waterfront views, setting it apart from more modern or IP-heavy Disney resorts.

What We Know About the Resort

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is shaping up to be a major addition to the Disney Vacation Club lineup, with:

  • Approximately 900+ rooms and villas planned
  • A mix of accommodations, including studios, suites, and waterfront “lake houses”
  • A large-scale resort footprint carried over from the original Reflections concept

The property is expected to balance traditional hotel rooms with Disney Vacation Club accommodations, making it appealing to both casual guests and DVC members.

Dining & Experiences

One of the most talked-about elements is a lakeside restaurant inspired by The Princess and the Frog, which is expected to bring a unique dining experience right to the water’s edge.

Combined with the natural setting, this could make Lakeshore Lodge one of the most scenic dining destinations at Walt Disney World.

Disney

Originally announced as “Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge,” the project was paused for years before being reimagined and brought back as Lakeshore Lodge.

Now, with new visuals and updates emerging, it’s clear Disney is moving forward in a big way.

Disney

This resort adds to Disney’s growing portfolio of immersive, story-driven hotels, while also filling a major gap in the Magic Kingdom resort area.

With its peaceful setting, strong thematic identity, and waterfront location, Lakeshore Lodge could become one of the most unique stays on property.
