Disney Cruise Line just made a BIG move, and it means way more sailings from the West Coast.

Disney Cruise Line is officially doubling down on the West Coast.

A new agreement between Disney Cruise Line and the Port of San Diego has been extended through at least 2031, bringing major expansion plans with it.

This extended partnership is set to nearly double the number of Disney cruises sailing out of San Diego each year, giving guests significantly more opportunities to set sail from Southern California.

Over the course of the agreement, Disney expects more than 1 million passengers to travel through the port, marking a major milestone and the first time in over 20 years that a cruise line has committed to a minimum annual guarantee at the port.

The deal also gives Disney non-exclusive priority access to the North and South berths at the B Street Cruise Terminal, helping streamline operations and improve the guest arrival experience.

Port of San Diego

With more departures coming, guests can expect expanded itineraries sailing to popular destinations like Catalina Island, Baja California, and even the Mexican Riviera ports like Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.

This means more flexibility, more availability, and more options for West Coast Disney cruises in the coming years.

The expansion will start becoming very real as soon as the 2026–2027 sailing season, when two Disney ships will operate out of San Diego:

  • The Disney Magic will arrive in October 2026 with 3–7 night sailings before a Panama Canal voyage
  • The Disney Wonder will homeport in San Diego from October 2026 through April 2027 with multiple itineraries

This is a major increase in Disney Cruise Line’s West Coast presence.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney has been sailing out of San Diego since 2012, but this new agreement signals something bigger — long-term growth and investment in the region.

If you’ve been waiting for more Disney Cruise options without flying across the country…this is your moment! Stay tuned for new itineraries, booking dates, and everything coming next as Disney Cruise Line continues its massive expansion.
