A classic CityWalk spot is closing, and a fan-favorite is moving in fast!

If you’ve ever grabbed a quick bite at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk before heading into the parks, you’re going to notice a big change very soon. One of the most recognizable quick-service locations is officially on its way out, and its replacement is already lined up!
Universal has confirmed that the Burger King Whopper Bar at Universal CityWalk Orlando will officially close on April 21, 2026.

For years, this location has been a go-to for fast, familiar food right in the heart of CityWalk. But now, it’s making way for something new, and something many guests have been asking for!

Burger King Whopper Bar has been a part of Universal Orlando’s CityWalk restaurant lineup for decades, and while it’s exciting to get to try out new eats while visiting, it is a bit bittersweet.

Five Guys burger chain restaurant will be replacing BK shortly after the closure happens, although we still don’t have a hard date for when we can expect their official first day open.

Universal has announced that the new Five Guys location is expected to open later in Summer 2026, bringing its signature made-to-order burgers, hand-cut fries, and customizable menu to CityWalk.
Universal has been steadily upgrading dining options, bringing in more recognizable, higher-quality brands, and creating a more “destination-worthy” experience outside the parks.

And replacing a traditional fast-food location with a fast-casual favorite like Five Guys fits that strategy perfectly.
What This Means for Your Visit
If you’re heading to Universal Orlando soon, you’ll still be able to grab Burger King at CityWalk through April 20. However, expect that location to be closed during construction from the 21st through the summer. But if your next visit falls around the summertime, you could be among the first to try the new Five Guys restaurant at Universal.

It’s a relatively short transition, but one that could leave a noticeable gap in quick-service options for a few weeks.
Another Piece of the CityWalk Evolution
This update also comes as Universal continues to expand and refine CityWalk alongside the growing Universal Orlando Resort experience — especially with Epic Universe now part of the lineup.
Between new dining concepts, returning retail experiences, and an upcoming entertainment venue, it’s clear that CityWalk is being reimagined as more than just a walkway — it’s becoming a destination in its own right.

At the end of the day, saying goodbye to a longtime spot like Burger King might feel a little nostalgic, but what’s coming next could be a major upgrade for guests!
