Something is happening behind the scenes at Disney World, and the permits just gave us our first clues.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney doesn’t always announce its next move right away…but if you know where to look, the hints are there. And right now, newly filed permits tied to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are sparking fresh speculation about what could be coming next.

According to newly filed documents, Disney has submitted permits for construction and electrical work in multiple areas across EPCOT and Hollywood Studios—and while the details are (as usual) pretty limited, there are a few interesting takeaways.

Over at EPCOT, one permit points to work happening inside the France Pavilion, with a contractor frequently used by Disney listed for electrical updates.

And while that might sound minor, these types of permits often signal anything from infrastructure upgrades to early prep work for new or refreshed experiences.

Meanwhile, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, permits indicate additional behind-the-scenes changes—though, again, Disney is keeping things intentionally vague. That’s pretty typical. Permits rarely spell out exactly what’s coming, but they’re often the first step before announcements, refurbishments, or even new attractions.

And timing-wise? It’s interesting.

Walt Disney World is already in the middle of a multi-year transformation, with updates, reimaginings, and expansions happening across all four parks. From refreshed attractions to entirely new experiences, Disney has been steadily laying the groundwork for what’s next—and permits like these are often the earliest breadcrumb.

It’s also worth noting that most of these permits come with roughly a one-year completion window, suggesting whatever work is happening could be relatively quick—or just one phase of a larger project.

So what does this mean for guests?

Right now, probably not much in terms of immediate impact. There are no confirmed closures tied directly to these filings, and much of this work is likely happening behind the scenes. But for Disney fans watching closely? This is exactly the kind of update that hints at bigger things brewing.
