It’s officially happening! The first piece of track is now in place, and this project just got very real.

A major construction milestone has just been reached at Universal Orlando Resort, and it’s one that fans have been waiting for. The first visible section of coaster track has officially been installed for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, giving us our clearest look yet at how this high-speed attraction is starting to take shape. With vertical construction now underway, this project is quickly shifting from groundwork to something you can actually see rising above the park.
For the first time, guests and construction watchers can spot actual coaster track in place at the Hollywood Drift site. This initial section of track has been installed on previously erected supports, marking the transition from early construction phases into full vertical build-out.

And while it’s just a small portion of the overall layout, this moment is significant because once track installation begins, projects tend to move quickly!
Even from this early piece, we’re starting to get a sense of the ride’s scale. The track appears elevated and positioned to eventually weave through a large portion of the former attraction space, reinforcing expectations that this will be a major outdoor coaster experience rather than a compact build.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is expected to feature high-speed launches, spinning ride vehicles, and large-scale elements, including a dramatic vertical spike that will send riders soaring high above the park.
That means this small section of track is just the beginning of something much bigger (and much more visible) as construction continues.

This new coaster is replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit footprint, signaling a major upgrade in both scale and technology. Instead of a traditional coaster experience, Hollywood Drift is being designed with 360-degree rotating ride vehicles that simulate the drifting motion seen in the Fast & Furious films.
The addition of track now makes that transformation feel real in a way that permits and groundwork never quite do.
With the first track now installed, the next phases will likely include rapid expansion of track placement, additional support structures going vertical, and visible shaping of major elements like turns and spikes.

Given how coaster construction typically progresses, guests can expect to see a lot more track appear in the coming months as Universal pushes toward the planned 2027 opening.
This is the moment where a project stops feeling like a concept and starts becoming a reality. Track installation is one of the most exciting phases of any coaster build, because it’s when you can finally begin to visualize the ride experience itself.
And for Universal Orlando, this coaster isn’t just another addition; it’s part of a bigger push toward more high-thrill, highly immersive attractions that can compete at the highest level.

If you’ve been following construction closely, this is the update you’ve been waiting for. The first piece of track going in signals that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is officially moving into its most exciting phase, and from here, things are only going to accelerate.
Be sure to keep checking back for more Universal Orlando construction updates, ride progress, and first looks — because this is one build you’re going to want to watch every step of the way!
