Excitement is building around Universal’s newest international theme park — but the company may be taking new steps to keep curious eyes in the sky away from the construction site. Reports indicate that Universal Destinations & Experiences has issued warnings about unauthorized drone activity around the construction site of its upcoming Universal Studios UK theme park, currently being developed near Bedford.

The move appears aimed at preventing aerial filming of the site as construction ramps up on what is expected to become one of the largest new theme park developments in Europe.

According to recent reports, Universal has issued cease-and-desist notices regarding unauthorized drone flights over the construction site of its upcoming theme park in the United Kingdom.

On their website, Universal has made the following statement: “We appreciate the tremendous excitement for our project. However, as our site activity and preparation works increase, we have an important responsibility to consider and protect the safety and welfare of those working on-site. This includes managing unauthorised drone filming which we have experienced being undertaken at low-altitudes, clearly identifying personnel and being shared online.” A copy of the cease and desist order is also available for download on the same page, too.

The notices reportedly warn drone operators against flying over the property, recording footage of construction activities, or sharing aerial images online without permission.

Universal stated that the move is intended to protect the safety and privacy of workers on site, especially as construction and preparation work increases.

Why Universal Is Concerned About Drone Activity

Theme park construction projects often attract attention from fans eager to document progress. Drone footage has become one of the most popular ways enthusiasts track developments at major projects around the world.

However, Universal says unauthorized drones flying at low altitude could potentially endanger workers, capture identifiable individuals, or interfere with construction operations.

Because of these concerns, the company has reportedly asked drone operators to stop filming the site and remove previously posted footage.

A Massive New Theme Park in Development

The future Universal Studios UK resort is currently planned for a 662-acre site south of Bedford and is expected to include a theme park, hotel, and entertainment complex.

While the park is still years away from opening, excitement around the project has been growing as fans speculate about potential themed lands and attractions that could be included.

The project is widely expected to become one of the most significant theme park developments in Europe when it eventually opens, with some reports suggesting a potential debut around 2031.

Construction Curiosity Meets Theme Park Secrecy

Large theme park projects often generate intense interest from fans hoping to get early glimpses of rides and themed lands under construction.

But as Universal’s newest international park continues to take shape, it appears the company is hoping to keep some of those surprises under wraps — at least until it’s ready to reveal them officially.
